Who can compete for HOSA? |
Anyone who is a registered member! There is an event for every kind of person. Everyone in the club is encourage to at least compete at districts. |
What kind of events are there? |
Team events, tests, skill events, prepared projects, etc. Find the full list of events on the Events tab. |
What are district events? |
District events are events that have a qualifying round where you compete within our district before moving on to the state level. If you place in your event at districts, you move on in that same event to states. If you do not place, you may pick a different event to participate in at the state competition, as long as it doesn't have a qualifying round. |
What are state events? |
State events are events that do not have to qualify at the district level to move on to the state level. |
Is there a dress code? |
Yes! When you are competing you must be wearing the appropriate business attire. The dress code will be specifically outlined during competition meetings. |
What if I don't have a group? |
That's perfectly fine! There are events for individuals, or you can talk to the competition leaders to work together to find you a group. |
How do I sign up to compete? |
Email one of the competition leaders (contact page) or talk to one of the advisors. |
Do I have to pay to compete? |
Yes, last year for districts it was $5 and state competition was $120. Costs for this year will be on the respective pages and will be discussed at competition meetings. |
What are testing events? |
There are two types of testing events: events with skills and events with just a test. Events with skills include a round of online/paper testing and a skills assessment. Examples of this type of event are CPR/First Aid and Forensic Medicine. Events without a skills test are just one round of a online/paper test. Examples of this are Nutrition and Medical Terminology. |
What are team events? |
Team events are events done with a group. Number of group members and specifics of what the event involves can be found in the event guidelines. Examples of this type of event is Health Career Display and HOSA Bowl. |
What are individual events? |
Individual events are events done by oneself. Specifics of what the event involves can be found in the event guidelines. Examples of this type of event are Health Career Photography and Extemporaneous Health Poster. |
